Construction Updates

Urgency that overwhelms the status quo

Post Oak Boulevard has undergone much wear and tear and deterioration over the past several decades. Much of the street is in a bad state of disrepair. In 2011, Uptown Houston repaired the worst parts of Post Oak Boulevard's surface, but the reconstruction of the entire Boulevard is critical. The infrastructure is 50 years old, under capacity and deteriorating.

Construction in all three segments will follow a three-phased plan:

Existing Boulevard

Clear the medians of trees, signals and sign rings. Replace median soil with temporary pavement.

Phase 1

Move southbound traffic onto temporary medians to create work zone to construct three new southbound lanes.

Phase 2

Move northbound traffic onto temporary medians to create work zone to construct three new northbound lanes.

Phase 3

Traffic restored to six lanes, build dedicated bus lanes in the medians.
